15-time Power Bowl champion shifts focus from the field to building the league’s future ahead of Spring season

For 32 seasons, the Augies offence began the same way, the ball in Tyler Evans’ hands.
This spring, it won’t.
The Augies franchise great quarterback and 15-time Power Bowl champion announced he will not return in a player capacity for the 2026 Spring season. Instead, Evans will step fully into his role as league organizer, shifting his focus entirely toward growing SportsKlub Football and enhancing the experience for every athlete involved.
“I’ve committed to playing a new role for my teammates this season,” Evans said in a statement released Monday.
“I still love competing on the field, but I want SportsKlub to grow into something bigger than any one player, including me. For that to happen, I need to be focused on the overall experience for every player. The past few seasons, I’ve struggled at times to juggle being the competitor and the organizer. The competitor was thinking about the success of my teammates, while the organizer cared about the atmosphere, the friendships, and the memories being created around me.”
Evans’ career spanned 35 seasons, primarily with the Augies, though he spent Seasons 13 through 15 with the Colts, the franchise now known as the Blues, before returning to the Dawgs. He also stepped away from Seasons 18 through 20 while attending Durham College, later resuming what would become one of the most decorated runs in league history.
His résumé is unmatched.
All-Time Passing Yards
Tyler Evans — 140,812
Mark Griffiths — 80,680
Braeden Price — 55,040
All-Time Passing Touchdowns
Tyler Evans — 1,372
Mark Griffiths — 661
Braeden Price — 494
Evans finishes his playing career as a seven-time MVP, 21-time Best Quarterback, and three-time Power Bowl MVP. Yet the defining moment behind this decision did not come from a stat sheet.
“The moment that really validated this decision was watching Tamara catch the game-winning touchdown in Power Bowl 38,” he said. “Experiencing that from the sideline felt different, and honestly more meaningful.”
That championship moment reframed his perspective. The competitor who once measured success in wins and production began to feel more fulfilled watching others create their own legacy moments.
“I’ve been lucky to share incredible moments with so many great teammates over the years, and I’ll always cherish that chapter,” Evans said. “But what fulfills me most now is seeing everyone else get their moments. From here on, my focus is making SportsKlub the best place possible for people to show up, belong, and enjoy being a part of something bigger than the final score. I’m looking forward to being out there with all of you this spring.”
Spring 2026 will be the first time in 18 seasons without Evans under centre . But as SportsKlub continues to grow in scale and ambition, his transition signals something larger than a retirement.
The quarterback is stepping aside, but the builder is stepping forward.
