Wagner Lawn Care built a 13-point lead, but undefeated Rick Grant Landscaping stormed back in a dramatic overtime finish for 10th straight victory

The Rick Grant Landscaping Blues are running out of ways to prove they are the team to beat in Sunshine Superwash Orillia flag football.
Now 10-0 after another dramatic win Sunday night, the Blues enter the final two weeks of the regular season sitting comfortably atop the standings with 20 points and the the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Power Bowl playoffs locked up.
But Week 8 at West Orillia Sports Complex wasn’t just about the Blues continuing their historic season. It was another night of fireworks across the league.
The CMF Automotive Silver Bombers exploded for 49 points in a shootout win over the Orillia Synergy Healthcare Augies, while the McLean & Dickey Insurance Thunderbolts kept its playoff hopes alive by outlasting the Santa’s Nook Huskers in a high-scoring back-and-forth battle.
With only two weeks remaining before the top four teams advance to the Power Bowl playoffs, every possession suddenly matters. And the intensity around the league is starting to feel different.
For the first time in weeks, the Blues looked vulnerable. Then Connor Woodbeck and the Blues offence reminded everyone why they still haven’t lost. Woodbeck answered the Trojans early surge with a series of explosive scoring drives, including a 60-yard touchdown strike to Tyler Richard that completely shifted momentum back toward the Blues sideline.
Daniel Fisher added a touchdown before Andrew Billark punched in another score to cut the deficit entering the second half. From there, the Blues defence completely changed the game.
After the Trojans controlled the opening half, the Blues shut them out over the final three quarters while forcing three interceptions, including two critical turnovers in the fourth quarter that erased Wagner’s comeback hopes. The Blues finished with 499 yards of offence compared to the Trojans 331, including 455 passing yards and five touchdown passes.
The 33-26 victory extends the Blues longest unbeaten streak in team history. The Trojans meanwhile, fell to 4-5-1 and now sits fourth in the standings, holding onto the final Power Bowl playoff spot with two weeks remaining.

The night’s second game somehow featured even more offence. The CMF Automotive Silverbombers outlasted the Orillia Synergy Healthcare Augies 49-34 in a game that felt more like an arena football shootout than a house league matchup.
The teams combined for 1,045 yards of offence and 12 touchdowns. Every time the Augies appeared ready to make a push, the Silver Bombers responded with another explosive scoring drive.
Jesse Bremner and Colton Thompson led the attack for the Silver Bombers, combining for eight passing touchdowns as the team piled up 555 total yards.
Thompson repeatedly stretched the field vertically, including a massive 73-yard touchdown connection to Ethan Phillips that helped break open the game in the fourth quarter. Phillips finished with multiple touchdowns, while Walker Armitage and Bremner also found the endzone during the offensive explosion.
The Augies refused to go away quietly. Nolan Inglis connected with Kirk Duffy for a touchdown during a strong offensive performance from the defending Power Bowl champions, but CMF’s pace and explosiveness eventually proved too much to contain.
The win moved the Silver Bombers winning streak to 3. They are now 5-5 on the season, pulling them level with the Augies in the standings at 10 points.

The final game of Week 8 may have quietly carried the biggest playoff implications of the night. The McLean & Dickey Insurance Thunderbolts defeated the Santa’s Nook Huskers 32-20 to stay alive in the playoff race, pulling within three points of the final Power Bowl playoff spot.
Quarterback Kayden Halloch delivered one of his strongest performances of the season, throwing multiple touchdown passes while directing an offence that generated 452 total yards. Halloch connected with Dimitri Manouris for a 43-yard touchdown before finding Shawn Harrison for another major score later in the game. Ethan Barber added multiple receiving touchdowns, including a huge 54-yard catch that gave the Bolts breathing room in the second quarter.
The Huskers answered repeatedly behind Lucas Di Mattia and Calvin Hale. Hale opened the game with a touchdown catch from Scott Oliver. Di Mattia also connected with Zach Moreau for additional touchdowns, but two costly interceptions and a fourth-quarter scoring drought ultimately allowed the Thunderbolts to close out the win.
The loss was costly for the Huskers who fall to 3-6-1 on the season, now two points behind the Trojans for the final Power Bowl playoff spot as only the top four teams advance to the postseason, while the bottom two teams will face off in a consolation match up.
With two weeks remaining, the playoff picture is still far from settled. Week 9 matchups begin next Sunday at 7 p.m. with Santa's Nook vs Wagner Lawn Care and CMF Automtoive vs McLean & Dickey Insurance. Then, on Sunshine Superwash Primetime Football, Synergy Healthcare tries to end Rick Grant Landscaping's undefeated campaign.
And with momentum building league-wide, every game suddenly feels like playoff football already.
