Hinds sparks Trojans breakthrough in Orillia Flag Football

Hotshots Sandblasting erases a three-possession deficit, CMF Automotive moves to 4-0 and Tyler Hinds sparks the defending champion Trojans to their first win
Week 4 of SportsKlub Orillia flag football had a little bit of everything.
There was a three-possession comeback. The last remaining unbeaten team continued to roll. The defending Power Bowl champions finally broke through. And the Rick Grant Landscaping Blues continued climbing back up the standings after their early-season stumble. But if there was one game that captured the night, it was the one decided by two points.
Augies storm back to stun Scouts
The Hotshots Sandblasting Augies appeared to be in serious trouble against the Speaking of Wildlife Scouts. Down three possessions, the Augies needed more than one big play to get themselves back into the game. They needed a string of them.
They got exactly that.
Hotshots completed the comeback for a 28-26 victory, with several of the biggest moments coming from players who have developed a habit of delivering when the Augies need them most.
Braeden Price went 7-for-13 for 131 yards and three touchdowns, while Brandan Piitz added another 55 yards and a touchdown through the air. But the numbers don't completely explain how the comeback happened.
With the Augies facing third-and-forever during their rally, Mike Black came down with a massive first-down catch to keep the drive and comeback alive. Black finished with three receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Then there was Tamara Evans. The Power Bowl 38 MVP once again found herself in the middle of an important Augies moment, scoring one of the touchdowns Hotshots desperately needed during its comeback. Evans finished with two catches for 30 yards and the score.
Brynnen Shelswell-Gilbert added three receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown, while Scott Oliver also found the end zone.
The Scouts nearly produced their own signature victory. Harrison Laugalys threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns, while former Power Bowl MVP Jacob Hammill added 75 passing yards and another score. Hammill also rushed for 65 yards and caught two passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Samantha Goodnough, Matt Bolduc and Lucas Scriver also caught touchdowns as the expansion Scouts pushed the Augies to the final margin.
This one, though, belonged to Hotshots. Three possessions down. Two points ahead when it was over.
Silver Bombers remain perfect
The CMF Automotive Silver Bombers are officially the team everyone else is chasing.
CMF moved to 4-0 with a 40-7 victory over the Synergy Health Care Monsters, continuing an opening month in which the Bombers have separated themselves at the top of the standings.
Jesse Bremner remained remarkably efficient, completing five of eight passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Colton Thompson added 165 yards and two touchdowns on four completions.
And the Phillips brothers continued making their presence felt.
Reigning SportsKlub Football MVP Ethan Phillips turned three receptions into 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Luke Phillips caught two passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Ethan Westbrooke added 95 yards and a score, while Walker Armatage hauled in a 40-yard touchdown. For Synergy, Steve Barber scored the Monsters' touchdown, while Bailey Yeoman led the team with 65 receiving yards.
At 4-0, the Bombers aren't just unbeaten. They've now shown they can win shootouts and control games in completely different ways. The road to Power Bowl 40 is increasingly running through CMF Automotive.
Trojans finally break through
Tyler Hinds returned from hiatus on Monday night, So did the Mariposa Building Services Trojans.
After an 0-3 beginning to their Power Bowl title defence, the Trojans earned their first victory of the season with a 27-21 win over the Wagner Lawn Care Huskers.
And Hinds' return mattered immediately.
The reigning Power Bowl MVP completed 10 of 15 passes for a staggering 305 yards and a touchdown, giving Mariposa another major weapon alongside Oswell James.
James was excellent himself, going 10-for-13 for 205 yards and three touchdowns while also leading the Trojans with five catches for 150 yards and a score.
Jordan Rooley caught two touchdowns, while Martin Cunningham added another.
For a team searching for a spark, getting Hinds back alongside James may have provided it.
Wagner Lawn Care, meanwhile, continued adjusting to life without injured quarterback Lucas Di Mattia and still came within one possession of winning.
Marcopolo Calvillo delivered another huge performance with seven catches for 165 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Ayers produced 205 total yards, rushing for 110 yards and a score while adding 95 receiving yards and another touchdown.
The result may have gone against the Huskers, but their first two games without Di Mattia have shown they still have plenty of playmakers capable of carrying the offence.
For the Trojans, though, the zero is finally gone from the win column.
The defending champions are on the board.
Blues keep climbing
Don't look now, but the Rick Grant Landscaping Blues are 3-1.
The Blues earned their third consecutive victory with a 28-15 win over the McLean & Dickey Thunderbolts, powered once again by one of SportsKlub's most dangerous collections of big-play threats.
Connor Woodbeck needed only three completions to throw for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Vince Pitines turned two catches into 90 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Planta had 95 yards and a score on two receptions, while Hayden Woodbeck caught a 95-yard touchdown

Andrew Billark also got behind the defence in a different role, throwing for 90 yards and a touchdown.
McLean & Dickey continued spreading the football around, with Mitchell Hurtubise throwing for 150 yards and a touchdown and Kayden Halloch adding 100 yards and another score.
Dimitri Manouris caught a touchdown, Rachel Holmes added another, and Jackson Denne made an impact on the other side of the ball with two interceptions.
The Thunderbolts had their moments, but the Blues' ability to turn a handful of touches into enormous gains proved decisive.
Four weeks in, the picture is changing
CMF Automotive remains perfect at 4-0, but there is plenty happening behind the Silver Bombers. The Blues have won three straight.
The Augies just authored one of the comebacks of the season. The defending champion Trojans have Hinds back and finally have their first win. The Huskers remain dangerous despite losing their starting quarterback, while the Scouts, Thunderbolts and Monsters have all shown flashes through the opening month.
And that's probably the best part. SportsKlub Football has never been about building a season where only the standings matter. It's the weekly hangout that happens to play sports, a place where someone can make a ridiculous third-down catch, score a clutch touchdown, meet a new teammate or have the best game they've ever played.
