Tamara captures Timothy Bush Championship

Tamara Evans fires a 37, surviving a late push from Tyler Evans and Jesse Bremner to claim the title

Tamara Evans grabbed control of the Timothy Bush League Championship early and never quite let it go.

Tamara carded a 37 over nine holes Saturday at Hawk’s Island at Hawk Ridge Golf Club, finishing two strokes ahead of Jesse Bremner and Tyler Evans to capture the championship in a tightly contested four-player finale. Bremner and Tyler each finished at 39, while Oswell James rounded out the field with a 48.

On a par-27 layout where one bad hole could quickly change the leaderboard, Tamara was the steadiest player of the afternoon. After opening with a five and a four, she made her move on the third and fourth holes, recording back-to-back pars to separate herself from the field.

Through four holes, Tamara sat at 15, already four shots clear of both Bremner and Tyler at 19. James was further back after opening 7-6-5-5.

Bremner, however, wasn't going away. After scores of 4-5-6-4 to begin his round, he produced one of the shots of the championship on No. 5, recording a three for par. Tamara made four on the hole, allowing Bremner to cut into the deficit.

With four holes remaining, the championship was suddenly very much alive. Tyler also settled down after an opening six. He followed it with a four and, after a five on No. 4, played the final five holes entirely with fours. That consistency slowly pulled him back into contention.

Tamara answered every challenge. She posted a four on No. 6 before a five on No. 7, but neither Bremner nor Tyler could produce the big swing necessary to erase her advantage.

Entering the final two holes, Tamara remained in front. Bremner made five on No. 8 while Tyler continued his run of fours, bringing the two into a battle for second place. Tamara made four herself to preserve her advantage heading to the ninth.

There would be no dramatic collapse. Tamara closed with a five for a 10-over-par 37, completing a wire-to-wire victory after taking sole possession of the lead on the third hole. Bremner finished with a four on No. 9 to sign for 39. Tyler did the same, completing an impressive closing stretch of five consecutive fours and joining Bremner in a tie for second. James saved one of his better holes for last, making a four on No. 9 to finish at 48.

Tamara leaves Hawk’s Island with her second championship of the Rick Grant Landscaping Orillia Golf Tour. She is the only player with multiple tournament wins this season.
