Evans captures Spring Challenge at Lake St. George

The 2026 Rick Grant Landscaping Golf Tour teed off Friday evening at Lake St. George Golf Club, and when the final putt dropped, it was Tamara Evans standing alone at the top of the leaderboard.


Evans carded a tournament-winning score of 46 to capture the Spring Challenge championship, edging a competitive field that featured six golfers battling through the opening outdoor event of the season.


Shawn McManus and Liam Macdougall finished tied for second place at 47, just one shot off the pace, while Mitchell Hurtubise posted a 51. Tucker McSwain wasn't far behind, shooting 52, and Percy Thomas shot a 59 in her second career outing.



The victory adds another chapter to what has become one of the most consistent résumés in SportsKlub Golf Tour history. Evans now owns three career tournament victories, two at Lake St. George, and has recorded an impressive career scoring average of 46.37 Through her SportsKlub Golf Tour career, she has accumulated 216 holes played while making 12 birdies.


Macdougall continued to showcase his own consistency near the top of the leaderboard. Also a two-time tournament winner, he entered the season with a career average score of 53.74, 8 birdies and 171 career holes played. His runner-up finish keeps him firmly in the mix as the race for the season-long standings begins to take shape.


The one-shot margin highlighted just how competitive the event was, with three golfers separated by only a single stroke at the top of the standings. Evans' ability to stay steady throughout the round ultimately proved to be the difference.



Players now turn their attention toward one of the season's most anticipated themed events. The next stop on the tour is the Summerween Tournament, scheduled for June 22 at 4 p.m. at Settlers' Ghost Golf Club.
