Young playmakers put on a show in Ramara Flag Football Week 3
Luke Henderson piles up 485 yards of offence for Grand Harbour, while Peggy’s Chip Truck, BMR Pro and Cordery Electrical also earn Week 3 victories
Luke Henderson turned Week 3 of SportsKlub youth flag football into a one-player highlight reel Tuesday night in Ramara.
The Grand Harbour standout accounted for 485 yards of offence and six touchdowns, leading his team to a 54-6 victory over Byers Equipment on Sept. 15. Henderson's performance headlined another busy night for the youth program, with Peggy’s Chip Truck defeating Pitch Management 22-7, BMR Pro topping the Kiwanis Club of Orillia 36-14 and Cordery Electrical earning a 45-8 victory over the Brechin Lions Club.
Henderson takes over for Grand Harbour
Henderson did most of his damage with both his arm and his legs. He completed six of seven passes for 265 yards and four touchdowns, then carried the ball six times for another 220 yards and two scores. Altogether, Henderson produced 485 yards and six touchdowns in the 54-point Grand Harbour performance.
Kelton Henderson was another major contributor, catching three passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns before adding a 45-yard rushing touchdown.
Gage McIntyre caught two passes for 110 yards and a touchdown, while Ryder Demuth scored once through the air and once on the ground.
Byers Equipment continued to give its young players opportunities all over the field.
Sheryl Snow completed six of nine passes for 185 yards, while Nash Ginger went 3-for-5 for 112 yards and scored the team's touchdown on the ground. Melanie Cimbron was a favourite target with four catches for 155 yards, while Matthew Barber hauled in three passes for 102 yards.
McCarrel, Hopkin run wild for BMR Pro
There wasn't much need to throw the football when BMR Pro had Knox McCarrel and Luke Hopkin carrying it.
McCarrel exploded for 195 yards and two touchdowns on four carries, while Hopkin was nearly identical with 197 yards and two touchdowns on four attempts.
Kean McCarrel added 80 yards and a touchdown on two carries, while Remi Raduner broke loose for 98 yards and another score as BMR Pro defeated Kiwanis 36-14.
Kiwanis produced several big plays of its own. Declan Ware rushed three times for 147 yards and a touchdown, while Camden Heitzner completed three of five passes for 118 yards and a score.
Gabe Cleaveley caught two passes for 54 yards and a touchdown and added another 65 yards on the ground. Greyson Delahunt also contributed 65 receiving yards.
Cordery Electrical spreads the touchdowns around
Cordery Electrical received contributions from throughout its roster in a 45-8 victory over the Brechin Lions Club.
Keenan Hughes completed two of four passes, with both completions going for touchdowns. Kieran Ware threw another touchdown and rushed for 21 yards and a score, while Eisley Connell completed her only passing attempt for a touchdown.
Evan Hill, Adilyn Connell, Miah Smith and Liam MacNeil each recorded touchdown receptions. Landon Kostur provided one of the game's biggest plays on the ground with an 80-yard run.
The Lions Club answered with a big play of its own when Beau Cameron completed his only pass attempt for a 90-yard touchdown to Cameron Sheamus.
Sheamus also took a turn at quarterback, completing two of five passes for 80 yards, while Aaron Kotekar and Waylon Farrell contributed 45- and 35-yard receptions, respectively.
McPeake continues to pile up yards.
Grayson McPeake needed just three carries to make another major impact for Peggy's Chip Truck. McPeake rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, helping Peggy's to a 22-7 victory over Pitch Management.
Oliver Flockton completed three of five passes for 35 yards, while Easton Bartlett connected on a touchdown pass. Xander Doaherty hauled in the scoring reception.
Pitch Management's touchdown came through Austin LeBlanc, who connected with Carter Acebo for a 30-yard score.
Acebo also rushed twice for 50 yards, while LeBlanc added 30 yards on three carries. Charleigh Grant, Sullivan Stong and Eliott Kleffam also recorded receptions as Pitch Management continued getting players involved throughout the offence.
One more week before the Turkey Bowl Playoffs
Three weeks are now in the books, leaving just one night of regular-season action before SportsKlub's Ramara youth flag football season heads into the Turkey Bowl playoffs.
The final stretch will give the young players a chance to chase a bowl, but the bigger goal remains the same as it was on opening night: get everyone involved, give kids opportunities to make plays and make Tuesday nights something they look forward to each week.
