Rockies and Angels improve to 2-0 as offensive fireworks light up the box scores

The offence was on full display Sunday morning at Tudhope Park as the Studabakers Beachside Rockies and Wagner Lawn Care Angels both remained unbeaten, improving to 2-0 with convincing victories during Week 3 action in the Orillia Sunday Baseball League.
With Week 2 washed out by rain last weekend, Sunday's contests marked just the second games played for each club, and both undefeated teams continued to separate themselves from the pack.
The Rockies powered past the CMF Automotive Metropolitans 20-11 behind a relentless offensive attack that produced 27 hits and 19 RBIs. Mitchell Hurtubise provided the biggest swing of the game, blasting the an inside-the-park home run while finishing with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
Percy Thomas turned in a perfect 3-for-3 performance with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Mike Black matched those numbers with three hits, three runs and three RBIs of his own. Tyler Nixon drove in a game-high four runs, Tucker McSwain collected three hits and two RBIs, and Jason Coldwell reached base safely all three times while scoring three runs.
The Metropolitans showed plenty of life at the plate despite the loss, collecting 20 hits.
Steve Hamilton led the way with a 3-for-3 performance and two runs scored. Brittney Low crossed the plate three times while driving in two runs, Jason McKendry added two hits and two RBIs, and Antoine Gagnon recorded a double, triple and RBI.
Tamara Evans delivered one of the game's biggest extra-base hits, tripling and scoring twice, while Emily Barnett added three hits in the losing effort.
The second game of the morning featured another offensive showcase as the Angels defeated the NKD Deer Muskies 20-16.
Wagner Lawn Care piled up 24 hits and received standout performances throughout its lineup. Wyatt Predum paced the attack with three hits, three runs scored and four RBIs. Jeff Carey matched the four-RBI output while collecting three hits, and Owen McCool finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Griffin Knicely added three hits, including two doubles, while Adam Hillyard contributed three hits and two RBIs. Kauner Lehtonen, Jessie Brown and Wesley O'Leary also chipped in multi-hit performances as the Angels improved to 2-0.
The Muskies refused to go quietly, answering with 22 hits of their own. Kyler Sept had one of the biggest individual performances of the season so far, finishing with three hits and five RBIs, including a double and a triple. JJ Healy and Eddy Tibbo each collected triples, while Jamie Ball and Jared MacDonald both registered three-hit games.
Despite the defeat, NKD Deer remained within striking distance throughout much of the contest before the Angels pulled away late.
Following Sunday's results, the Angels and Rockies sit tied atop the standings at 2-0. The Muskies and Metropolitans both remain winless at 0-2 but have shown they possess the offensive firepower to climb back into the race.
The league is schedule to return to Tudhope Park on June 14 for Week 4 action. The Muskies and Rockies will open the day with games at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., while the Metropolitans and Angels will square off at 11 a.m. and noon.
With the top two teams set to meet struggling opponents looking to break through, Week 4 could either create further separation in the standings or tighten the race heading into the heart of the season.
