Angels Stay Red Hot, Rockies Keep Pace as Playoff Race Tightens

With just five regular season games remaining, every inning is beginning to feel like playoff baseball
Sunday's action featured two games with very different storylines, as the league-leading Wagner Lawn Care Angels continued their dominant campaign while the Studabakers Beachside Rockies kept the pressure on in second place. The updated standings now show the Angels sitting at 9-1-3 (21 points), while the Rockies remain within striking distance at 8-5 (16 points).
Angels 19, Muskies 4
The Angels wasted little time reminding everyone why they sit atop the standings.
Powered by a relentless offense, Wagner Lawn Care rolled past the NKD Deer Muskies 19-4, scoring in bunches throughout the afternoon. Nearly every hitter contributed as the Angels piled up 19 runs in one of their most complete offensive performances of the season.
Wesley O'Leary delivered the highlight of the day with an exciting inside-the-park home run, while Devin Coombs, Dylan Petroff and Griffin Knicely each turned in multi-hit performances to keep the lineup moving. The Angels consistently put runners on base, capitalized on scoring opportunities, and never allowed the Muskies back into the game.
The victory pushes Wagner Lawn Care to 208 runs scored this season, by far the highest total in the league, while extending its hold on first place with only five games left before the postseason.
For NKD Deer, the loss drops them to 2-9-2. While the playoff picture is becoming increasingly difficult, the Muskies still have opportunities to play spoiler over the final stretch.
Rockies 12, Metropolitans 7
Studabakers stays within striking distance. The Rockies refused to let the league leaders pull away.
Studabakers Beachside defeated CMF Automotive 12-7 in an entertaining offensive battle that featured timely hitting from throughout the lineup.
Jason led the way with a four-hit performance, while Matt Roberge and Tucker McSwain drove in key runs to fuel the offense. Mike Black, Waylon Clay and Jan Veitch also contributed multiple hits as the Rockies repeatedly answered every Metropolitan rally.
CMF Automotive showed plenty of fight, hanging around for much of the afternoon thanks to solid run production from Steve Hamilton and Josh Goodings, but the Rockies' offense proved too much to overcome.
The win keeps Studabakers at 8-5, maintaining second place and keeping faint hopes alive of catching the Angels before the regular season concludes.
With five games remaining for every team, the race is far from over. The Angels remain in control, but the Rockies still have time to make things interesting if they can continue winning.
