Lions Club roars in Ramara Flag Football Week 2
Gryson McPeake rushes for 235 yards, BMR Pro erupts for 51 points, and the Brechin Lions Club posts a shutout during another big night at the Ramara Centre

Now two weeks into the season, the SportsKlub Ramara Flag Football highlight reel is already getting crowded.
Long touchdown runs, interceptions and breakout performances filled the Ramara Centre on Tuesday night, with Peggy’s Chip Truck, BMR Pro, Cordery Electric and the Brechin Lions Club earning Week 2 victories.
And after putting together one of opening night's biggest performances, Gryson McPeake somehow found another gear.
Peggy’s Chip Truck 31, Kiwanis Club of Orillia 8

McPeake followed his 310-yard, three-touchdown performance in Week 1 with another monster night, rushing four times for 235 yards and four touchdowns as Peggy’s Chip Truck defeated the Kiwanis Club of Orillia 31-8.
Through two games, McPeake has piled up 545 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, helping Peggy’s to a perfect start.
Jack Eastcott added a 20-yard touchdown run, while Lincoln Carriere rushed for 25 yards. Oliver Flockton and Jacob Hancock each added 13 yards on the ground.
Kiwanis found its touchdown through the air. Callan Corbett completed four of seven passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, with Gabe Cleavely hauling in two passes for 80 yards and the score.
Camden Heitzner broke loose for a 50-yard run, while Max Cook carried four times for 23 yards and caught two passes. Cleavely's touchdown also provided one of the night's memorable moments, with his Kiwanis teammates helping him find the end zone.
BMR Pro 51, Pitch Management 14

Knox McCarrel rushed four times for 135 yards and three touchdowns, while Xavier Doaherty turned three carries into 120 yards and three touchdowns. Luke Hopkin added 85 yards and a touchdown, Kallum Hughes scored on a 13-yard run, and Edison Price piled up 92 yards on only two carries.
Remi Raduner added a 75-yard run, but some of his biggest contributions came when BMR Pro didn't have the ball. Raduner recorded three interceptions and four tackles, producing one of the best defensive performances of the young season. McCarrel added four tackles, and Doaherty recorded three.
Pitch Management had some big-play rushing of its own. Carter Acebo needed just two carries to rack up 170 yards and two touchdowns, while Fin Patchell rushed twice for 115 yards. Lincoln Black added 52 yards on four carries. The victory gave BMR Pro its first win after falling to Peggy’s Chip Truck in Week 1.
Cordery Electric 33, Byers Equipment 7

Cordery Electric's offence found the end zone in several different ways during a 33-7 victory over Byers Equipment.
Keenan Hughes completed both of his passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns, while three Cordery players broke away for long rushing scores. Zoe Leboeuf scored on an 80-yard run, Kieran Ware raced for a 60-yard touchdown, and Adilyn Connell found the end zone on a 45-yard run. Leboeuf also caught a 20-yard touchdown and recorded an interception on defence, while Elias Fisher hauled in a 20-yard touchdown.
Irelynn Watson led Cordery with three tackles, while Evan Hill and Ware joined Leboeuf with interceptions.
Byers Equipment's touchdown came through Izzy Galluci, who caught two passes for 30 yards and a score. Gibb Ferry completed three of nine passes for 45 yards and the touchdown while adding 35 yards on the ground. Tyson Ginger contributed 30 rushing yards, 15 receiving yards and an interception.
Brechin Lions Club 40, Grand Harbour 0

The Brechin Lions Club scored 40 points for the second consecutive week, but this time its defence made sure that was far more than it needed.
The Lions shut out Grand Harbour 40-0, with Cameron Sheamus making an impact just about everywhere. Sheamus completed all three of his passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, rushed twice for 120 yards and a touchdown, caught two passes for 60 yards and another score, and added three tackles and an interception on defence.
Ben Gasc completed two of three passes for 80 yards and a touchdown and rushed twice for another 90 yards. Grayden Kostur threw for 35 yards and a touchdown, while Ryan Salwonchuck completed his lone attempt for a 40-yard score.
Beau Cameron added a 45-yard touchdown run and intercepted two passes on defence. Sheamus, Gasc, Mason Webb and Waylon Farrell each caught touchdown passes, while Gasc also recorded three tackles and an interception.
Grand Harbour was kept off the scoreboard but still produced several explosive plays. Gage McIntyre caught two passes for 135 yards, while Kelton Henderson rushed three times for 87 yards. Emma Verstreten completed a pass for 85 yards and added a sack defensively, while Ryder Demuth rushed for 50 yards.
Two weeks down, plenty more moments to come
McPeake has rushed for 545 yards in two nights. The Lions have scored 80 points in two games. Raduner picked off three passes in a single game. Cordery Electric had three different players break away for rushing touchdowns of at least 45 yards.
Those numbers make for great highlights, but they're only part of what Ramara Flag Football is about.
Week 2 saw players throughout both age divisions make catches, score touchdowns, grab flags, throw passes and celebrate with their teammates. For some, it's a big statistical night. For others, it's one play they'll be talking about on the way home.
With four weeks still to play, there are plenty more touchdowns, laughs, and SportsKlub moments still to come.
