Steve Hamilton honoured with Spirit Award

Updated: Jan 14

Some players change games with goals, home runs, or highlight plays.

Others change them by how they make everyone feel when they step onto the field or into the rink. Steve Hamilton does both.

Hamilton suited up for four different SportsKlub teams this year, playing for the Augies, Blues, Leprechauns, and Rockies, bringing the same energy to every locker room he walked into. No matter the sport or the jersey, he showed up the same way, positive, welcoming, ready to compete, but never at the expense of the people around him.

When Hamilton took the stage to accept the award, his message matched exactly how he plays. He reminded everyone that SportsKlub, at its core, is about messing around, having fun, and not taking things too seriously. What matters most to him is that everyone keeps showing up, laughing, and enjoying themselves. That attitude is what made him such a natural choice for voters who choose Hamilton for the Spirit Award.

Across football, hockey, and slow-pitch, Hamilton has built a reputation as someone who makes games better simply by being there. He includes everyone. He keeps things light when tensions rise. He competes hard without ever losing sight of why people came out in the first place.

Hamilton’s impact in 2025 went far beyond any stat line. Whether he was lining up for the Augies in Power Bowl 37, skating with the Leprechauns in the Arena Series, or pulling on a Rockies jersey for. Baseball Day in Orillia, he brought the same positive energy to every game, making him the ultimate teammate.
